Betty Jane Kirby

Betty Jane DeFreese Kirby, age 79 of Calhoun, passed away on Tuesday, April 8, 2014 at her residence. Betty was born on July 4, 1934 in Gilmer County, GA to the late William Earl DeFreese and Elsie Elizabeth Hamby. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, William Talmadge “Woot” Kirby, and a sister, Mary D. Jull. She is survived by her son, Fain Walraven of Calhoun; two brothers, Robert DeFreese of Calhoun and Billy DeFreese of Florida, several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral Services will be conducted on Saturday, April 12th at 2:00pm from the Chapel of Thomas Funeral Home with Dr. Steven Pearson and Reverend Keith Thomas officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Pleasant Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Bruce Thomas, David Rickett, Dale Hice, David DeFreese, Charlie McGinnis, Chris Roger, and Eddie Roger. The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 4:00pm until 8:00pm at the funeral home.
