Billie Otis Halcomb, Jr., age 74, of Calhoun passed away Monday September 28th in Gordon Health Care. Bill was born in Kentucky, June 4, 1941, son of the late Billie Otis Halcomb, Sr., and Sara Jane Osborn Halcomb. He was a Vietnam veteran of the United States Army and prior to retirement was a coal miner with Arch Coal Mining Company. Besides his parents he is preceded in death by two brothers, Dallas Halcomb and Paul Halcomb; and two sisters, Imogene and Helen. Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Maudine Halcomb of Calhoun; three sons, Buford Halcomb, Grant Turner and Steve Turner; two daughters, Una Johnson and Sara Smith; four sisters, Barbara Bilbrey, Una Stamper, Evelyn Shepard and Sondra Defrance; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren also survive. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, September 30th at 2pm from the chapel of Thomas Funeral Home with Minister Kent Bailey officiating. Burial will follow in Fain Cemetery with Eric Morris, John Halcomb, Mike Johnson and David Smith serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 12 noon until the funeral hour.
