Mrs. Charlotte Nan White Shaw of Calhoun passed into heavenly peace on Tuesday, April 19, 2016. Charlotte was an avid writer and had some of her poetry published, however her favorite use of her writings was to commemorate special events for family and friends. She also enjoyed drawing, painting, travel, scrapbooking and spending time with those she loved. Charlotte relocated to Atlanta at age 18 and began a 36 year career with Southern Bell, from where she retired in 1992. She was a graduate of Red Bud High School Class of 1956, and a member of Blackwood Springs Baptist Church. Charlotte was born January 5, 1938 to Richard Lee and Ella Mae Stephens White. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Charles Lamar Shaw, infant daughter Barbara Lauren Shaw, parents-in-law Lucius David and Lydia Carlisle Shaw, sisters infant Bessie Kate White, and Barbara Ann White Pledger; brother Richard Jerry White, and special brothers-in-law John F. "Bo" Richardson, Ray Dutton, and Frank Pledger; and sister -in-law Betty Graham Shaw. She also was preceded by eldest grandson Jordan Russell Pass, niece Robbin Shaw Herrera, and several aunts and uncles. Charlotte is survived by her daughters Jennifer Shaw Pass (Russell) of Calhoun and Ellen Shaw Wilson (Tom) of Mt Pleasant South Carolina, and grandchildren Thomas David Pass and Trey and Lyda Grace Wilson. Also surviving are sisters Joan Dutton, Joy Dutton (Johnny), brother Donnie White( Sheila); and sisters-in-law Helen Richardson, JoAnn White and brother -in-law Harold Shaw all of Gordon County. Two special aunts Mae Moss and Frances Taylor. Several cousins, including Lynell Harris, and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces & -nephews also survive. Lastly, Charlotte is survived by a host of special friends including Barbara Underwood Greeson, Bobbie Payne Johnson, Shirley Prather, Ann Darnell, Gwen Tindale, Charlotte Christian, and Ena Serrit. Many other friends from Red Bud School, Southern Bell, Harris Radiation Center, USS Princeton crew and families, and travel clubs were held dear as well. Funeral Services will be conducted on Friday, April 22nd at 1 PM from the Chapel of Thomas Funeral Home with Reverend Craig Miles officiating. Jeffrey Patterson will have charge of music. Burial will follow in Blackwood Springs Baptist Church. Pallbearers serving will be nephews, Keith “Bo” Richardson, Bryant White, Lou White, Chris Putnam, Eric Putnam, and Tim Putnam. Honorary Pallbearers will be nieces and additional nephews. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 6 PM until 9 PM at Thomas Funeral Home. In lieu of floral offerings, the family would encourage gifts to St Jude's Children's Research Hospital.
