Mr. D.F. “Preacher” Williams, age 84 of Calhoun died Friday evening in Redmond Regional Medical Center with his wife of 66 years, Betty, at his side. He was born November 13, 1929 in Gordon County, son of the late Dennis F. Williams, Sr. and the former Etta Willene Roe. Also, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Sue Bill and Imogene Fuquea and a granddaughter, Niele Oglesby Smith. He was a Veteran with service in the US Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Calhoun. During his life he had accomplished many goals and achievements. He was a graduate of Red Bud High School along with a business administration degree in law. He was a Chevrolet dealer in Adairsville and Calhoun for many years; as well as a Chrysler-Plymouth dealer. He served as Mayor of Adairsville for two terms in the 1980’s. He also served on the Board of Directors for the Bartow County Chamber of Commerce; a director on the Coosa Valley Area Planning and Development Commission; and a director of the First Atlanta Bank. He was a Charter Member of the Calhoun Elks Lodge # 1883. He was recently honored by Coosawattee Lodge for 50 years of service. Preacher will be remembered for a lot of reasons, but first and foremost everyone that knew him knew of his deep love for his family and his contagious sense of humor He is survived by wife of 66 years, Betty Bagley Williams of Calhoun, children Vickie Marcotte and her husband Doug of Alpharetta, Sandra McFather and her husband Ed of Canton, Billy Williams and his wife Vickie of Calhoun, and Mike Williams of Calhoun; special family friend, Theresa Hawkins of Calhoun; grandchildren, Deke Findley, Flipper McDaniel, Issac Williams, Candace Searcy, Dennis M. Williams, Jr. Melissa Dawn Williams; and 9 great grandchildren; a niece and a nephew Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M., Monday, June 9 at the First Baptist Church of Cal-houn with Dr. Bert Vaughn officiating. Burial will be in Fain Cemetery. Masonic Grave Side Rites will be conducted by Coosawattee Masonic Lodge #306 F. and A.M., and military graveside rites will be presented by the Dalton American Legion Post # 112. Active pallbearers are Dennis M. Williams, Jr., Issac Dwayne Williams, Flipper McDaniel, Deke Find-ley, Terry Fuquea, Noah Oglesby, and Trent Jarrell. They are asked to meet at the funeral home at 1:00 PM Monday. Brethren of the Coosawattee Masonic Lodge are serving as honorary pallbearers. They are asked to meet at the church at 1:30 PM Monday.
