Jewel Burton Thacker

Jewel Burton Thacker, age 88 of the Ranger Community, passed away on Saturday, February 3, 2018 in Gordon Health Care. Jewel was born on January 28, 1930 in Gordon County to the late Vester Burton and Nina Shope Burton. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Harlan "Cotton" Thacker; two sisters, Edna Terry and Lois Goble; and two brothers, Lewis Burton and Edward Burton. She was a lifetime resident of the Ranger Community and was a member of the Fairview Church of God near Oakman. Jewel is survived by two sons, Larry Thacker and his wife Connie of Fairmount, and Randy “Jeff” Thacker and his wife Sheila of Ranger; two brothers, Tom Burton of Fairmount, and Charlie Burton of Calhoun; one sister, Ilene Goble of Ranger; three grandchildren, Kevin Thacker, Miranda Warrick and Tyler Thacker; and two great-grandchildren, Coulter Warrick and Will Harlan Warrick of Chickamauga. Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, February 7th at 1 PM from the Chapel of Thomas Funeral Home with the Reverend Terry Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Chandler Cemetery. Pallbearers are Tim West, Anthony Burton, Gary and Terry Goble, Kevin Thacker and Tyler Thacker, and Michael West. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 5 PM until 8 PM at Thomas Funeral Home. Thomas Funeral Home has charge of the arrangements for the service of Jewel Burton Thacker.
