Mrs. Lucille Peace Sullivan, 80, of Calhoun, passed over peacefully Monday, January 27, 2014 in her home surrounded by her beloved family. Lucille was born April 12, 1933 in Gordon County, daughter of the late Herman Peace and Laura Rickett Peace. She was preceded in death by sister Inez Edwards, brothers-in-law Herman Stone, Sam Rogers, James Sullivan, Billy Sullivan, and nephew Vance Sullivan. Lucille was a graduate of Sonoraville High School, Class of 1950. She began her career at Burlington Mills where she was employed for over 20 years. Lucille has worked in local retail establishments over the past 40 years including US Variety, Harbin Drug, Eckerds, and Rite Aid. She loved graciously serving her customers. She attended Salem Baptist Church where she was a member for over 50 years. Lucille loved attending church and sharing worship and fellowship with the congregation. Lucille is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Charles Sullivan, her daughter Stacey Smith and her husband Ricky, and her granddaughter, Sydney, of Sugar Valley. Other survivors include sister Lois Nell Gray and her husband Ralph, sister Shirley Rogers, brother and sister-in-law Jackie and Jackie Sullivan, sister-in-law Joy Sullivan, sister-in-law Eleanor Sullivan, brother-in-law Stevie Sullivan, brother-in-law Jerry Edwards, and several nieces and nephews and other family members. She is also survived by many close friends with special mention of Gerry Carter. A service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Lucille Sullivan will be conducted 1pm Friday January 31st at Salem Baptist Church with Pastor William Roberts, Rev. Gary Bowman, and Rev. Ken Conner officiating. Interment will follow at Gordon Memorial Gardens. Active pall bearers include Michael Stone, Mark Edwards, Mark Sullivan, Marlin Sullivan, Jody Sullivan, Brian Baxter, and Lanier Roland. Honorary pall bearers include the deacons of Salem Baptist Church, the Senior Adult Sunday School Class of Salem Baptist Church, and co-workers of Rite Aid. The family will receive friends Thursday afternoon after 4pm at the funeral home and on Friday until 11:30 am at which time Lucille will be taken to the church to lie in state from 12 noon until the funeral hour. Friends and family may send flowers or choose to make an honorary donation to Salem Baptist Church’s new Activity and Fellowship Building Fund @ 1501 McDaniel Station Road,SW, Calhoun, Georgia, 30701.
