Luke Brady Minten, age 10, of Calhoun died Sunday, January 24 from injuries received on Saturday in an ATV accident. Luke was born March 2, 2005 in Calhoun, a son of the former Season Mangum and Shawn Minten. He was a fourth grade honor student at Calhoun Elementary School. Luke loved playing basketball, camping, the outdoors, and wrestling. He was preceded in death by his great grandparents, Arthur and Lucille Mangum, Harold “Ooky” Faith, John Christian, William Robert Minten, Joshua John Wall and Joy Ann Wall; and an aunt, Gay Mangum. Luke is survived by his mother and step-father, Season and John Christian, father, Shawn Minten; grandparents, Anthony and Candace Mangum, Joan Minten, Sam and Mary Lou Minten, Jody Christian, and Mike Christian; great grandparents, Doris Faith and Charlotte Christian; brothers, Hunt Christian and Tobe Minten; sisters, Cambria Manning and Lucee Minten; special aunt and uncle, Deborah and Ron Lee, aunt and uncle, Michael and Michelle Burnette; aunt, Kate Christian; aunt and uncle, Charles and Rachel Christian; uncle, Scott Minten; cousins, Matthew Burnette, Madden Burnette, Bryce Davis, Reed Davis, Amanda and Neal Davis, and John “Zip” Rampy; and a number of additional cousins. Funeral services for Luke will be held at 3:00 PM, Wednesday, January 27, at the First Baptist Church of Calhoun with the Reverend Eddie Brannon and Dr. John Barber officiating, and music will be arranged by Rebekah Feuerbach and Zip Holland. The family will receive friends at the church from 5:00 until 8:00 PM on Tuesday. Active pallbearers are Michael Burnette, Nolan Rhinehart, Chad Guess, Zip Holland, Chris Gee, Mike Hicks, Cody Henderson, and David Gentry. Honorary pallbearers are members of the Fourth Grade Class of Calhoun Elementary School which will be the 2024 graduating class. The active pallbearers and honorary pallbearers are asked to meet at the church at 2:30 PM, Wednesday. The family wishes to give a special thanks to the Doctors and Nurses of T.C. Thompson Children’s Hospital of Chattanooga. The family also encourages the donation of blood through the local American Red Cross in Luke’s memory. Thomas Funeral Home has charge of arrangements for the services of Luke Brady Minten, age 10 of Calhoun.
