Max Scott

Max Scott, age 84 of the Scottsville Community, passed away on Tuesday, June 14, 2016 at his residence. Max was born on June 10, 1932 to the late Albert Franklin Scott and Stella Holsomback. He was a member of the Plainville Baptist Church. Max served in the United States Air Force as a mechanic and gunner on a B29 during the Korean War. He was an excellent auto body / mechanic man. He also worked as a supervisor for the Gordon County Road Department, and served on the Gordon County Board of Commissioners from January 1985 to December 1988. He retired as the owner of Snacks-n-Stuff convenient store and garage in his beloved Scottsville Community. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by: his brother and sister-in-law, Trammel and Freda Scott; sister and brother-in-law, Laverne and Porter Toles; a nephew, Andy Toles all of the Scottsville Community; and a great-grandson, Blake Carver. He is survived by: his loving wife, Pam Scott, to whom he was married 43 years; two daughters, Terry Autrey, and Sket and Jamey Angland; two sons, Roger and Marie Scott all of the Scottsville Community, and Troyia and Wanda Scott of Ringgold; six grandchildren, Pachis Berner, Spencer Angland, Walker Angland, Melessia Scott Sherman, Michelle Scott, and Kelly Scott; seven great-grandchildren, Ladonna Hawkins, Alexis Owens, Aryian Berner, Blayse Berner, Chris Scott, Sierra Scott, and Logan Jeffords; and one great-great-grandson, Lucas Hawkins, which made five generations. Max raced dirt track race cars for many years before he retired. He was an avid Atlanta Falcons and Atlanta Braves fan. He loved watching his children and grandchildren play sports. Max loved his community and all of the people in it, and he lived life to the fullest. He will be missed by everyone. A special thanks to Homestead Hospice, Gordon Home Health, Gordon and Floyd EMS, Gordon Hospital, and Floyd Hospital Staff for taking care of our beloved husband, father, granddaddy, and great-granddaddy. Memorial Services will be conducted on Friday, June 17th at 11 AM at Thomas Funeral Home with Reverend Dutch Scott officiating. Military Honors will be afforded by the Dalton American Legion at Scott Cemetery. Honorary Pallbearers will be Bron Scott, Dempsey Wright, Travis Goswick, Chad Floyd, Mikey Young, and David Roach. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 4 PM until 9 PM at Thomas Funeral Home.
