Mayme Jo Gallagher Hood

Mayme Jo Gallagher Hood, of Calhoun and formerly of Kingston, passed away Sunday morning June 19th at her residence. Mrs. Hood was born June 26, 1923 in Kingston, daughter of the late, Aylor Gallagher and Bessie Rogers Gallagher. She, also, was preceded in death her husband, Lamar E. Hood in 2005. She has spent her life in both Kingston and Calhoun and was retired from the Calhoun City School System. She was a member of the Kingston Baptist Church. She is survived by two sons, Kenneth Hood of Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania and Don Hood and his wife Sheila of Calhoun; one brother, Rogers Gallagher of Sarasota, Florida; one sister, Mary Ann Knudson and her husband Jim of Sarasota, Florida; grandchildren, Patti Hufstetler of Fruithurst, Alabama, Kenneth Hood of Sneads, Florida, Jason and Jeffrey Hood both of Calhoun , and Ashlie Hisle of Louisville, Kentucky. Funeral services will be conducted at the graveside of the Kingston City Cemetery with Dr. Stephen Pearson officiating on Wednesday, June 22 at 1:00 PM. The family will receive friends Wednesday morning from 11:00 until 12 noon at Thomas Funeral Home.
