Melissa Anne Shugart

Missy Wood Shugart, age 47 of Adairsville, passed away on Thursday, May 8, 2014 in Redmond Regional Medical Center. Missy was born on August 20, 1966 in Floyd County to Joe Martin Wood, Jr. and Patricia Ann Stephens Wood. She was of the Baptist faith and was employed by Mohawk for 27 years. She was a fabulous mother to her children. In addition to her parents, she is survived by her son, Kaleb Shugart of Calhoun; daughter, Bree Phillips of Calhoun; one brother. Steven Todd Wood and his wife, Jennifer of Kingston; two sisters, Tammy Bryant and her husband Scotty of Resaca, and Cathy Phillips of Calhoun; father of her son, Jeff Shugart of Ringgold; nieces and nephews, Anna Grace Wood, Kaitlyn Wood, Bo Bryant, Keena Proffitt, Rali Proffitt, Eli Proffitt, Tad Phillips, Darrell and Jennifer Phillips, Jalynn Phillips, and Jayda Phillips. Funeral Services will be conducted on Saturday, May 10th at 4:00pm from the Chapel of Thomas Funeral Home with the Reverend Frank Wood. Burial will follow in Chandler Cemetery. Pallbearers serving will be Jerry DeFoor, Shane DeFoor, Vince Anthony, Tad Phillips, Darrell Phillips, Bo Bryant, and Kris Trapp. The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 5:00pm until 9:00pm at the funeral home.
