Jerry Edward Mulkey

Jerry Edward Mulkey, age 72 of Calhoun, passed away on Monday, November 10, 2014 at his residence. Jerry was born on October 1, 1942 in Gordon County to Myrtle Bowen Roberson and the late James Delma Mulkey. Jerry was an entrepreneur at a young age, starting out as a shoe shine boy at the barber shop, then onto pushing a snow cone cart in the Mill Village. This was just the beginning of all his many business adventures in his lifetime. He was a member of the Calhoun Community Church, Club Y, and the owner and operator of Mulkey’s Menswear, and previously of The Haberdasher from 1977 until 2001. Jerry was a fun loving husband, father and grandfather. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Regina Mulkey on March 5, 2014; and step-father, Vernon “Mote” Roberson; also, his father and mother in law, Gordon and Jean Goble. He is survived by his wife Judy Goble Mulkey of Calhoun; mother, Myrtle Bowen Roberson; son, Christopher Mulkey and his wife Allison of Calhoun; two daughters, Cindy Paul and her husband Steve of Calhoun, and Brooke Holbert and her husband Barry of Canton; son-in-law, Terry Mulkey of Lake Mary, FL; brother, Larry Mulkey and his wife Gloria of Calhoun; eleven grandchildren, Brandi Grisham and her husband Selby Keith of Burleson, TX, Brittany Mulkey of Lake Mary, FL, Caleb Young of Calhoun, Jacob Young of Calhoun, Christian Paul of Calhoun, Erin Paul of Calhoun, Trey Paul of Calhoun, BJ Holbert of Canton, Blair Holbert of Canton, Jonah Long of Calhoun, and Laici Long of Calhoun; one great-grandson, Gage Grisham of Burleson, TX; several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral Services will be conducted on Thursday, November 13th at 2:00 PM from the Calhoun Community Church with the Reverend Jerry Rice and Reverend Harold Jones officiating. Allison Mulkey, Jerry Rice and the Calhoun Community Praise Team will have charge of music. Burial will follow in Chandler Cemetery with Ken Young, SR officiating. Pallbearers serving will be Terry Mulkey, Steve Paul, Barry Holbert, Caleb Young, Jacob Young, BJ Holbert, Trey Paul and Christian Paul. Honorary pallbearers are members of Club "Y". The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at the Calhoun Community Church.
