Jessie Hite

Jessie Hite, age 88 of Calhoun, passed away on Tuesday, February 26, 2019 at Gordon Health Care. Jessie was born on October 10, 1930 in Villa Rica, GA to the late Candler Belle Hamrick and Ruby Lee Cleghorn Hamrick. In addition to her parents, Jessie was also preceded in death by: her husband, Ellis Hite; and three brothers, Emory Hamrick, C.B. Hamrick, and Richard Hamrick; and a sister, Dot Brown. She has been a resident of Gordon County since 1951 and was a member of the Calhoun First United Methodist Church. Jessie was an Alumna of Berry College and earned her M.Ed. at West Georgia College. She was retired from the Calhoun City School System where she was the Vocational Office Training Coordinator. Jessie is survived by: two sons, Kent Hite and his wife Oksana, and Dean Hite and his wife Dawn; daughter, Laura Holland and her husband Zane; sister, Elizabeth Ann Manis; and four grandchildren, Kevin Holland, Madeline Hite Swafford and her husband Hutch, Rebecca Hite, and Mark Hite. Funeral Services will be conducted on Saturday, March 2nd at 11 AM from the Calhoun First United Methodist Church with Pastor Ed Archer officiating. Jody Bryson will have charge of music. Interment will follow in Chandler Cemetery. Pallbearers serving are: Stanley Chambers, Larry House, Charles Prater, Jeff Brown, Dale Swafford, and Tim Holland. The family will receive friends on Friday from 5 PM until 8 PM at Thomas Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions in memory of Jessie be made to the Calhoun First United Methodist Memorial Fund at 205 East Line Street, Calhoun, GA 30701.
