Mack Carlton, age 88, of Atlanta, GA, passed away on Sunday, October 27, 2019 at Pruitt Health-Brookhaven.
Mack was born on November 27, 1930 in Augusta, GA to the late Thaddeus Mack Carlton, Sr. and Alma Hillegeist Carlton. In addition to his parents, Mack was also preceded in death by two sisters, Elizabeth Stout and Glenn Ann Carlton. Mack served in the United States Navy and was a Veteran of the Korean War. After the war, Mack attended the Georgia Institute of Technology. Upon graduation he worked for the State of Georgia until his retirement in 1997. Mack was a longtime member and deacon of Wieuca Road Baptist Church.
Mack is survived by: his wife, Mary Williams Carlton; Mary’s daughters Pat Douglas of Rome, GA and Stephanie Groce and her husband, Bryan, of Mooresville, NC; two sisters, Mary Hilma Kent of Gibson, GA and Betty Cochran of Phoenix, AZ; three grandchildren, Julia Douglas of Rome, GA, Harrison Douglas of Washington, DC, and Ellen Groce of Mooresville, NC.
Services will be private with interment at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, GA.
