Perry C. Moore, Sr.

Perry C. Moore, Sr., age 80 of Calhoun died Tuesday, August 8, 2017 at his residence. Perry was born in Calhoun December 3, 1936, son of the late Marvin Moore and Jessie Moore Bennett. He was a lifetime resident of Calhoun, a graduate of Calhoun High School Class of 1954, and a member of First Baptist Church of Calhoun. Perry was a life member of Calhoun Elks Lodge #1883. After a career in the textile industry, he joined his beloved wife Nina in the operation of Nina’s Flowers for many years until their retirement. He was preceded in death by his brother George Moore, Sr. and his wife Catherine, his brother Bill Moore, Sr., his brother Charles Moore and his sister Jan Moore Towers and her husband Raybun Towers. He is survived by his wife Nina Jo McClurd Moore, to whom he had been married 61 years. He is also survived by his daughter Suzanne Moore of Calhoun, his daughter Paige Moore Smith and her husband David K. Smith of Calhoun, his son Perry Moore, Jr. and his husband Shawn Kilgore of Orlando, Florida, and his daughter Jana Moore of Calhoun. He is also survived by two grandchildren, Kelly Smith Jourdan and her husband Robby Jourdan of Athens, Georgia, and Gail Smith of Savannah, Georgia. Also surviving are sisters-in-law Norma Moore of Lexington, South Carolina and Joyce Moore of Joshua, Texas. Many beloved nieces and nephews survive. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Friday, August 11 at Thomas Funeral Home with Dr. Bert Vaughn officiating. Music will be arranged by David Smith and Shawn Kilgore. The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon until the funeral hour that day. Burial will be in the Moore Family plot in Fain Cemetery. Active Pallbearers are Robby Jourdan, Bill Moore, Jr., Tim Moore, George Moore, Jr., Chip Towers, and Scott Shook. Honorary Pallbearers are Billy Miller, Ted Collins, Tim Haney, Jimmy Silvers, and Billy Baxter.
