Robert Carl "Bobby" Whitlock

Robert Carl “Bobby” Whitlock Sr., age 74 of Gordon County, GA, passed away on Saturday, July 11, 2020 at Floyd Medical Center. Bobby was born on April 20, 1946 in Marietta, GA to the late Millard Whitlock and Mildred Ellison McTaggart. In addition to his parents, Bobby was also preceded in death by: his step-father, who raised him, J.D. McTaggart; sister, Brenda Sue Freeman; brother, Jerry Lee McTaggart; and brother-in-law, James Stanley Mills. Bobby was a Cobb County Firefighter for 10 years and departed as Captain. Prior to his retirement, Bobby worked for Southeastern Freight, and was the owner and operator of Whitlock Towing. He was a member of the American Legion Post#160 of Smyrna, GA. Bobby is survived by: his wife of 52 years, Rita Ardito Whitlock; six sons, Tony Whitlock, Robert Whitlock, Curtis Whitlock, Joey Whitlock, Jimmy Whitlock and his wife, Kim, and Richard Whitlock; daughter, Tammy Whitlock O’Valle; brother, Larry McTaggart; two sisters, Patricia Georgia Ann Doss and Martha Dean Mills; sixteen grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. A celebration of the life of Robert Carl “Bobby” Whitlock, Sr. will be held at a later date.
