Waldo Watson Sloan

Waldo Watson Sloan, age 80 of Calhoun, passed away August 26, 2016 at his residence. Waldo was born on December 12, 1935 in Catoosa County to Joseph M. Sloan Sr and Bertha Louellen Williams Sloan. He is preceded in death by his son, Kenneth G. Sloan; his four brothers, JM Jr, Grady, Hershel and Virgil Sloan; two sisters, Willie Lee Pearce and Francis Bailey. He was of the Baptist Faith. Waldo retired from Coronet Carpet as a supervisor after 33 years. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Carolyn Shope Sloan; son, Tommy (Tracie) Sloan of Calhoun; three granddaughters, Amanda (Nathan) Young of Hoschton, Ga, Erica (Derek) Newman and Megan Moss both from Calhoun, Ga; three great grandchildren, Tucker and Molly Young of Hoschton, Ga and Zaylen Clark of Calhoun, Ga; one brother Gene Sloan of Rome, Ga; one sister Virginia (Winford) Casey of Calhoun, Ga. Funeral Services will be conducted on Monday, August 29, 2016 at 2 PM at the chapel of Thomas Funeral Home with Minister Winford Casey officiating. Burial will follow in Chandler Cemetery with Reverend Reggie Nation officiating. Pallbearers serving Roy Lyles, David Hensley, Luis Ochoa, Larry England, Kenneth Sisson and Donald Casey.
