Alonzo John “A.J.” Davis, age 83, of the Rosedale Community, passed away Wednesday July 14th at The Lantern at Morning Pointe in Collegedale, Tennessee.
A.J. was born September 2, 1937, in Floyd County, son of the late Howard Davis and Mary Pierce Davis. He was a veteran of the United States Navy serving in Vietnam. He was retired from Ryder Trucking and was a member of the West Union Baptist Church. A.J. loved log cabins, was a great supporter of The Wounded Warriors Project and a member of the American Legion and the Gordon County Antique Tractor Association.
He is survived by his wife Patricia Painter Davis, stepson; Randy Norton, Stepdaughters; Sharon Norton and Betty Self and her husband Scott. Seven step-grandchildren, nine step-great-grandchildren and several cousins survive.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday July 17th at 2pm from the chapel of Thomas Funeral Home with Rev. Brian Self officiating. Burial will follow in the West Union Baptist Cemetery. Pallbearers serving will include Austin Norton, Justin Self, Brandon Norton, Chris Ray, and Kobi Baker.
The family will receive friends Friday evening from 4 until 8pm at the funeral home.
