Angel Emmanuel "Big Ang" Hernandez Reyes, age 16, died at Hughes Spalding Hospital of Atlanta on Wednesday, May 6, 2026.
Angel was born in Chattanooga, Tennessee, on December 16, 2009, and spent his life in Gordon County, where he became known for his bright smile, kind heart, and unforgettable personality. At just 16 years old, Angel brought joy everywhere he went. He had a way of lighting up every room with his laughter, energy, and love for the people around him. Angel was a student at Sonoraville High School and a faithful member of Allen Chapel AME Church, where he proudly sang in the youth choir. He loved the Lord deeply and lived his life with compassion, kindness, and a genuine concern for others. Whether helping a friend, encouraging someone who was down, or simply making people laugh, Angel always made others feel seen and loved. He had a huge love for sports, especially college football, and could talk for hours about stats, teams, and players. His favorite athletes were Steph Curry and Russell Wilson, whom he admired for their talent and leadership. Angel also loved music, especially K-pop and R&B, and always had a song or playlist ready to match the moment. More than anything, Angel had a heart for people. He loved animals, adored children, and believed in helping those in need. One of the things that meant the most to him was feeding the homeless and spreading kindness wherever he could. Angel dreamed of a better world and did his part to make life brighter for everyone he met. Though his time here was far too short, the love, laughter, and light Angel shared will remain in the hearts of all who knew him forever. He was a hard worker and loved to work with his friends at New Calhoun Auto Auction. Angel was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Kenneth Clemmons and great-grand father, Odilon Reyes.
He is survived by his mother, Diana Hernandez (Carlos Lezo); his father, Tyshaun Clemmons (Journey Edwards); little brother, T.J. Clemmons and a baby sister on-the-way, Adalynn Giselle; grandparents, Lynette Clemmons and Blanca Hernandez (Jose Hernandez), Donna Sparks and a host of cousins, aunts, and uncles.
Funeral services and a Celebration of Life will be conducted at 3:00 PM, Monday, May 11th, 2026 at the Allen Chapel AME with Rev. Renata Williams officiating. Interment will follow in Fain Cemetery. Gentlemen serving as pallbearers include Tyshaun Clemmons, Dorian Porch, La'Rons Winston, Javan Winston, Victor Hernandez, Michael Hernandez, Carlos Lezo, and Joshua Dover. These gentlemen are asked to assemble by 2:30 PM at the church.
