Annie Mae Brown Bigham, age 103, a well-known Gordon County educator, passed away at her home Sunday morning, August 18th. 

Annie Mae was born in Waleska, Georgia, on September 10, 1920, the daughter of the late Richard Bradford Brown and Catherine Lyon Brown. She graduated from Reinhardt College and began her teaching career in 1944 at Belwood Elementary School and retired in 1984 while teaching at Tolbert Elementary School. Annie Mae was a master gardener who loved to share her vegetables with her family and neighbors who were her world.  

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Henry Horace Bigham, one sister, Hazel Lewis, and one brother Hoyt Brown.  

Survivors include her son, Richard Bigham, and his wife Mary of Rome; her daughter, DeAnne Bigham Curtis; and her husband Jim of St. Augustine. Her sister, Geneva Johnson. Grandchildren, Brodie Locklair, Mecca and her husband Luke Reasoner of Ocala, Fl., Scott Taylor and his wife Lisa of Murfreesboro, Tn., and Brad Taylor and his wife Chelle of Roswell, Georgia. Several great-grandchildren also survive. 

Services to Celebrate the Life of Annie Mae Bigham will be conducted  at the Chapel of Thomas Funeral Home on Wednesday, August 21st at 1 pm with the Reverend Gary Bowman officiating. Burial will follow in Blackwood Springs Baptist Cemetery. 

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 11 am until 12:30 pm prior to the service. 

The family request that in lieu of flowers, donation may be made to Reinhardt University @ 7300 Reinhardt College Circle, Waleska, Georgia, 30183.
