Anthony L. Moss, Sr.

Mr. Anthony L. Moss, Sr., 82, of Calhoun, GA passed away on Thursday, September 10, 2026.

Anthony was born on May 10, 1944, son of the late Ellis and Vivian Horton Moss. He was also preceded in death by: a daughter, Christina Moss West; and an infant brother. Anthony was a member of New Hope Baptist Church in Ranger, GA, where he served as Choir Director and Church Treasurer in previous years.

He is survived by: his wife of 43 of years, Dorothy Moss; son, Anthony L. “Tony” Moss, Jr. (Debbie); step-daughter, Shannon Whitlock; brother, Garry Moss (Lorie); grandchildren, Charley West, Morgan Whitlock Bomar, Hunter Moss, Erin Whitlock, and Mason Whitlock; great-grandchildren, Emmersyn Green, Pierce Cooper, Porter Bomar, and Piper Bomar; nephews, Kenny Moss and Ryan Moss; and a special sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Randy and Charlie Reeves.

Anthony was a faithful servant to God, a devoted husband, a loving father and grandfather, and a friend to all. He loved deeply, gave generously, and was dearly loved by everyone whose life he touched. He loved fishing, NASCAR, and watching his grandchildren play sports. His presence was a blessing, and his memory will forever live in the hearts of those who loved him.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, September 12, 2026 from 4 PM until 7 PM at Thomas Funeral Home. Anthony will lie in state on Sunday, September 13, 2026 from 2 PM until 3 PM at New Hope Baptist Church.

Funeral Services will be conducted on Sunday, September 13, 2026 at 3 PM with Reverend Dwight Scott and Reverend Jim Storm officiating. Music will be provided by Ron and Faye Bentley. Burial will follow in New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery in Ranger, GA.

Pallbearers serving include: Hunter Moss, Mason Whitlock, Kenny Moss, Ryan Moss, Landon Vest, and Tipton Davenport.
