Barbara Sue Jolley

Barbara Sue Jolley entered into eternal rest on Friday, August 26, 2022 at the Memorial Hospital of Chattanooga, after several months of declining health. She was born in 1937 in Chickamauga to the late John D. and Artie Weaver Jolley.

 

She is survived by a sister, Linda Timms and her husband David; nephews Jonathan Timms and his wife Linda and Jason Timms who she loved so very much. Her grandparents, aunts, uncles were special to her and she always enjoyed family get-togethers with them.

 

Barbara was a graduate of Calhoun High School, Class of 1955. She was a retired nurse having received her Registered Nursing degree from the Baroness Erlanger School of Nursing in Chattanooga in 1958. Her career included positions at Erlanger, Amedisys, Superior Home Health and other agencies. She retired from the Life Center of East Ridge in 2006. She was of the Baptist faith having made her commitment to Jesus Christ at the Damascus Baptist Church in Gordon County as a teenager. She was Baptized in Caldwell Lake near Mount Zion Baptist Church of Resaca. She was well traveled and enjoyed visiting the Caribbean, Hawaii, Holland, England, Australia, Switzerland, and other interesting places. Her pets were her passion. Many little dogs and cats lived pampered lives because they lived with Barbara. She was an avid reader from a young age, but macular-degeneration took a toll on her eyesight. For the past few years, she thoroughly enjoyed audio books provided to the blind (free of charge) by the State of Tennessee. Donations in Barbara’s memory my be made to the “Tennessee Library for Accessible Books & Media”(LABM), 1001 Rep. John Lewis Way, N., Nashville, Tn. 37219.

 

 

Graveside services will be conducted at Fain Cemetery at 4:00 PM, Sunday, August 28 with Dr. Bert Vaughn officiating. Pallbearers are Jonathan Timms, Laura and Si Payne, Pam and Jacob Costa, Michael Rice and Mark Cochran.

 

 The Jolley family will receive friends from 2:00 until 4:00 PM at Thomas Funeral Home.
