Billy Joe Mincey

Billy Joe Mincey, age 85, of Gordon County, passed away Saturday evening March 17th in Gordon Health Care. Billy Joe was born June 12, 1932 in Gordon County, son of the late Julian A. Mincey and Beulah Smith Mincey. He was a member of Salem Baptist Church and a veteran of the United States Army. Billy Joe was retired from Mohawk Industries and is remembered as a long time employee of the City of Calhoun where he was both a city police officer and firefighter for over 20 years. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Mary Rice Mincey, one son, Kenneth Joe Mincey; one daughter, Patricia Ann Fletcher; one sister, Dorothy Holmes; six grandchildren, Christy Brown, Suzanne Fletcher, Blake Mincey, Colby Mincey, Kirby Mincey and Tristian Mincey; three great-grandchildren, Ryan Brown, Justin Brown and Hope Brown. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday March 20th at 1pm from the chapel of Thomas Funeral Home with Rev. William Roberts officiating. Burial will follow in Gordon Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers serving include; Wesley Brown, Ryan Brown, Justin Brown, Tristian Mincey, Jack Holmes, Jerry Holmes, and Troy Dutton. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 5 until 8pm.
