Boyd Colen Angle, age 79, of Newark, Ohio, left his mortal residence in Calhoun, Georgia, on April 27, 2026, with his loving wife, Gloria J. Angle, nephew Clinton M. Higgingbotham and his wife Mary Ann Higgingbotham at his side.
Boyd was born on January 6, 1947, in Ashland, West Virginia. He was preceded in death by his parents, Colen Dick Angle and Helen (Bailey) Angle, and his late wife, Shirley A. (Prince) Angle; a daughter, Kathy (Roberts) Angle; two brothers, Tim and Randall Angle; two sisters, Bonnie (Mullins) and Ruth L. (Crisp) Angle; and son-in-law, J C Wheeler.
He is survived by his loving wife, Gloria J. Angle; a daughter, Janetta (Wheeler). Boyd also leaves behind two grandsons: Weslee (Alyssa) Roberts and Ryan Wheeler, all of Newark, Ohio; three brothers: Fred (Sandy) Angle, Wayne (Debbie) Angle, and Mark Angle with his many nieces and nephew, including his adopted "Conleys" in Newark, Ohio.
Boyd enjoyed attending and being a member of the New Zion Baptist Church in Calhoun. He had been a deacon in Ohio for many years. He was a faithful servant of Jesus Christ and lover of his country and extremely patriotic. He was a proud member of the U.S. Army and served in the Vietnam war. He loved going fishing with his nephew, Clinton, and great-great nephew, Harrison Higgingbotham, and traveling.
His family in Georgia will receive friends at the Thomas Funeral Home Chapel in Calhoun, Georgia; Wednesday, from 12:30 to 2:00 PM, with Rev. Gary Hibberts of New Zion Baptist Church officiating.
Following these services, Boyd will be taken to Ohio with funeral services at the Brucker and Kishler Funeral Home located at 985 21st Street, Newark, Ohio. Where he will lie-in-state Saturday, May 2nd from 10 AM to 11:30 AM. Followed by a Full Military Graveside service at the Wilson Cemetery, 4254 Marion Road, Newark, Ohio at 12:00 noon, with Rev. Matt Bryant officiating.
