Carey Tyler McEntire

Carey Tyler McEntire, age 33 of Newport News, VA and formerly of Calhoun, GA, passed away on Sunday, September 21, 2025 at Riverside Regional Medical Center.

Tyler was born on February 17, 1992, in Dalton, GA, to Jeannie McEntire and the late Jack Carey McEntire, Jr. In addition to his father, Tyler is also preceded in death by his grandfathers, Jack McEntire, Sr. and Billly Joe Cook. He graduated from Calhoun High School, Class of 2010 and later attended Dalton State College. Tyler proudly served in the United States Navy for three years.

He enjoyed the outdoors, whether it was camping under the stars, casting a line while fishing, or simply spending time in nature. He occasionally enjoyed a round of golf from time to time, and Tyler especially enjoyed spending time with his family.

Tyler is survived by: his mother, Jeannie McEntire; grandmother, Peggy McEntire; special friend, Alexis Triolet; brother, Josh (Crystal Reyes) McEntire; aunts, Sharon (Rickey) Harris, and Amy (David) Stocker; uncles, Joe (Tess) Cook, and Steven (Peggy) Logan; niece, Molly McEntire; cousins, Geoffrey Fletcher and Jack Fletcher; and additional extended McEntire family members.

A private graveside service will be held on Sunday, September 28, 2025 at Blackwood Springs Cemetery.

The family will gather for a reception from 2 PM until 4 PM at his grandmother McEntire’s house at 248 Lovers Lane Road.
