Christopher Edward Barker

Christopher Edward Barker, age 53, of Cobb County passed away Sunday, July 9^th, 2023, at his residence.

Chris was born on April 18, 1970, in Rogersville, Tennessee, son of Johnny P. Barker and Joan Prater Barker.

Chris was a former employee of Norfolk Southern as an independent contractor and a computer programmer. He is an alumnus of Southern Tech - Kennesaw State University. Chris was an avid participant in the Key Club, Math Club, and a band member from Wheeler High School. He belonged to the church choir as a soloist at Powers Ferry Methodist Church. Most of his free time was dedicated to computer programming, collecting mustangs, and  he was a soccer enthusiast.

Chris is survived by his parents, mother, Joan Prater Barker a former Gordon County resident; father, Johnny P. Barker; and one sister Natasha Barker of Ft. Myers, Florida.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday. July 12^th at 1:00 PM from Thomas Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, July 12^th, from the Chapel at Thomas Funeral Home. Following the service Christopher will be taken to the Christian Sells Funeral Home in Rogersville, TN where graveside services will be conducted on Saturday, July 15^th, at 3:00 PM  at Highlands Cemetery near Rogersville, TN.
