Cindy McEntyre Hill

January 30, 1955 — January 26, 2024

Celinda Hazel McEntyre Hill, lifetime resident of Calhoun, died peacefully in her sleep on January 26th, just days before her 69th birthday.

Cindy was born on January 30, 1955, to Carleen (Middleton) McEntyre and Roy Max "Bo" McEntyre.

She was preceded in death by both of her parents, her mother-in-law Jane Hill of Roanoke, VA and father-in-law Sam Hill of Reidsville, NC, as well as great niece, Victoria Jones.

She is survived by her loving husband, David Hill, brothers Phil McEntyre (Wanda), Mark McEntyre (Kenna), sisters Laura Thomas, Nancy Holcomb (David), Penny Holcomb, and stepsister Debbie Martin, nieces Kimberly McEntyre, Candra Cantrell (Nathan Flickinger), Kelly Eubanks (Billy) and Holly Thomas, and nephews Kenneth Jones and Scott McEntyre (Alicia), and many great nieces and nephews as well.

Never having children of her own, Cindy was like a second Mom to all of her nieces and nephews.

She loved her church. She was a lifetime member of the Calhoun Church of Christ. She loved her job at Caraustar in Dalton where she worked for 38 years. Her colleagues were like family.

She was an expert oil painter and proficient in many different styles of painting, and was part of the Palette Artistry Guild, studying under Beverly Patrick, for many years, and her painting community was dear to her. She was also a masterful cook and baker, and was known for her delicious meals and wonderful desserts. She enjoyed walking and kept a walking log, logging many hundreds of miles, playing cards, and traveling with friends from as far back as grade school. She was always ready to help any family member or friend in time of need and would change her schedule to accommodate.

She married the love of her life, David, on Valentine's Day 2013.

Cindy is remembered by her many friends and family members as one of the sweetest women in the world. Her compassionate spirit, wonderful sense of humor, and kindness to others were her trademarks.

As her husband so lovingly remarked, "Everyone who ever met her, was changed by her. But she never tried to change anyone."

She is terribly missed.

The family will receive friends Monday evening from 5 – 7pm at the funeral home.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday January 30th at 4pm from the chapel of Thomas Funeral Home with Rev. Rob Berghorst officiating. Burial will be in Fain Cemetery. Pallbearers serving include Scott McEntyre, Joshua McEntyre, Kobe McEntyre, Trenton McEntyre, Karson McEntyre, and Kaden McCarver.
