Clarence Lincoln “C.L.” Rutledge, age 87, of Calhoun passed away Monday evening September 7th at AdventHealth Gordon. C.L. was born July 24, 1933 in Gordon County, son of the late Mack Owen Rutledge and Lois Freeman Rutledge. He was a member of the Damascus Baptist Church and served his country for more than 40 years, first as a SSGT with the United States Air Force, then as a CW4 with the Georgia National Guard and retired under the Department of Defense. C.L. was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post# 47 where he was a Past Commander, the Calhoun Elks Lodge #1883, and the Calhoun Moose Lodge #1974. He was a avid golfer, hunter and fisherman but was most proud of being a loving husband, father, and grandfather (Pa). Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, Jack Rutledge and the mother of his children, Idelle Hunt Rutledge. He is survived by his wife, Lynn Rutledge, his daughter, Bronwyn “Toot” Rutledge, son, Brent Rutledge, two step-sons, Curt Duncan and his wife Joanna and Randy Duncan, three sisters, Ida Ruth Anderson, Linda Young, and Sandy Adams and her husband Dean, one brother, Ricky Lee Rutledge. Eight grandchildren, Ty Rutledge and his wife Dallas, Adam Rutledge and his wife Wimberly, Ella Rutledge, Brody Rutledge, Dr. Christina Duncan Lothamer and her husband Doug, Catherine Duncan, Julia Duncan, and William Duncan, one great-grandchild, Lincoln Rutledge. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Graveside Rites will be conducted Wednesday September 9th at 5pm in the Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Cemetery with Dr. John Barber officiating. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers the family ask that donation be made to the First Baptist Church,% Faith Forward at 411 College Street, Calhoun, Georgia 30701. All CDC Covid-19 guidelines will be followed. The family ask that everyone wear a mask.
