Marie Carver Robbins, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and cherished member of the Gordon County community, passed away peacefully on April 3, 2024, at the age of 95. She was surrounded by her loving family at her home in Gordon County.

Born on August 6, 1928, in Gordon County, Marie was the daughter of Clyde Newton Carver and Blanche Rogers Carver. She was raised alongside her siblings, Rayble Clyde Carver and Hurlyne Carver Kinman. Marie was a proud lifetime resident of Gordon County, where she cultivated deep roots within the community.

Marie dedicated many years of her life to her work at Mannington Mills before retiring to focus on her role as a devoted homemaker. She was known for her warmth, kindness, and unwavering dedication to her family and friends. 

A dedicated member of Calhoun First Baptist Church, Marie's unwavering faith guided her throughout her life. She served as a longtime Sunday schoolteacher and prior to her stroke actively participated in church activities, leaving a lasting impact on those she encountered, especially those she encountered in her ministry to homebound residents. 

Marie was married to the love of her life, Wesley Robbins, with whom she shared 68 years of love and companionship. Together, they were blessed with two daughters, Judy and Luanne. Marie's love for her family knew no bounds, and she took great pride in nurturing and caring for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Marie leaves behind a legacy of love and compassion that will be forever cherished by her family. She is survived by her daughters Judy Meadows and Luanne Holbert (married to Larry), her grandchildren Barry Saunders (married to Patti), Greg Saunders (married to Carla), Michael Saunders, Tishanna McClure, and Marissa Chilton Chastain, great-grandchildren, great, great-grandchildren, as well as several nieces, nephews, and step-grandchildren.

In addition to her family, Marie was also survived by her dear friend Sue Ledford, with whom she shared countless cherished memories.

Marie is preceded in death by her parents, Clyde Carver and Blanche Rogers Carver; siblings, Rayble Carver and wife Jo, and Hurlyne Carver Kinman and husband Clayton; and son-in-law Scott Meadows. 

Marie Carver Robbins will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her gentle spirit, loving heart, and enduring legacy of faith and family will continue to inspire those who were touched by her presence.

A funeral service to celebrate the life of Marie Carver Robbins will be conducted on Sunday, April 7, 2024, from the Chapel of Thomas Funeral Home at 3pm. The family will receive friends prior to the funeral service from 1pm - 3pm at Thomas Funeral Home. Rev. Barry Saunders will lead the funeral service, and men serving as pallbearers include Greg Saunders, Michael Saunders, Wesley Saunders, Barrett Saunders, Braden Saunders, and Rand DeFoor. In lieu of flowers, the family requested that donations may be made to the First Baptist Church Building Fund in honor of Marie's memory.
