Dixie Landon Nally Johnson

Dixie Landon Nally Johnson, a beloved member of the community, passed away at her residence on July 5, 2024. She was born on January 19, 1935, in Bartow County, GA, to the late Richard Landon Nally and Ruthel Smith Nally Barton.

Dixie dedicated many years of her life working diligently for the Gordon County Tax Office. Her passion for serving others extended beyond her professional life as she also worked as a paraprofessional for Kindergarten at Belwood Elementary School for several years. Her engaging personality, characterized by a love for helping people and an ever-friendly demeanor that welcomed everyone with open arms, earned her a special place in the hearts of many.

Throughout her life, Dixie was actively involved in various community endeavors and was particularly proud of her membership in The King's Cooks and her contributions to the sheriff's auxiliary. These accomplishments exemplified her commitment to making a positive impact on the lives of those around her.

In addition to her parents, Dixie is also preceded in death by her loving husband, Malvin "M.L." Johnson. She is survived by her son, Dr. Larry Johnson and his wife Kathy; her daughter Judy Watters and her husband Bill; as well as her grandchildren Sarah Williams and her husband Matt, Katherine Hodge and her husband Will, Will Watters and his wife Kelly, and Landon Watters and her husband Jacob; and eight great-grandchildren.

In memory of Dixie Landon Johnson, let us celebrate a life well-lived—a life dedicated to kindness, service, and spreading joy wherever she went. Her legacy will continue to inspire all those who were fortunate enough to have known her.

Dixie will be dearly missed and forever remembered with love and fondness by all who had the privilege of crossing paths with her.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, July 16, 2024 from 5 PM until 7 PM at Thomas Funeral Home.

Funeral Services will be conducted on Wednesday, July 17, 2024 at 4 PM at the Calhoun First United Methodist Church with Reverend Brian Clark and Reverend Jeremy Noffsinger officiating. Burial will follow in Fain Cemetery.

Dixie will lie in state at Calhoun First United Methodist Church an hour prior to her services.
