Doris Sue DeFoor

Doris Sue DeFoor, age 88 of Calhoun, GA, passed peacefully on July 16, 2025 after declining health.

Doris was born on October 20, 1936, an only child of Lois Wright Jacks and Arthur Ranal Jacks, who preceded her in death. Although she grew up an only child, she had cousins that treated her as their sister. Doris was a volunteer at Advent Health from 2002 – 2021. In 2007, she received Auxilian of the year award. She loved to help family members find their loved ones. She enjoyed helping anyone that needed help. She was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church in Plainville, GA, where she loved to sing.

Doris is survived by: her daughter, Tamara Tomlinson (Eddy); son, Ranal “Randy” Young (Kathy); grandchildren, Jonathan Thompson (Misty), Tanna Johnson (Jacob), Ethan Young (Yaniria), Erin Bledsoe (Brent); great-grandchildren, Zoey and Ryder Thompson, Remi Burgess, Elijah, Elena and Evie Young, and Emily Bledsoe. She is also survived by numerous Wright and Jacks cousins.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, July 19, 2025 from 11 AM until 1 PM at Thomas Funeral Home.

Funeral Services will be conducted on Saturday, July 19, 2025 at 1 PM from the Chapel of Thomas Funeral Home with Reverend Doug Maddox and Reverend Terry Timms officiating. Burial will follow in Franklin Cemetery.

Pallbearers serving include: Jonathan Thompson, Ethan Young, Steve Wright, Mark Wright, Dustin Tomlinson, and Jacob Johnson.
