Elizabeth "Kay" Jernigan

Elizabeth “Kay” Waters Jernigan loving momma, nana and true friend passed away peacefully in her sleep June 28th, 2021.

She was preceded in death by her mother Elizabeth Jackson, father Samuel Waters and brother James Waters. Her husband of 22 years Joseph Jernigan and great granddaughter Mahayla Locklear.

She is survived by her best friend and partner Dolly Hamby. Daughters Amanda Dixon, Ana Candi Hall and Brandi Jo Anna Davenport. Granddaughters Breanne Locklear, Brittani Davenport, Sarah Davenport,Madison Bojorges and Faith Barnhart. Great grandchildren Bryson Hutchison, Lucena Bojorges and her soon to be and greatly anticipated twin grandsons. Santiago and Raphael Bojorges.

Mrs. Jernigan was a graduate of Lee University an avid reader and devoted Christian. She was a member of Tunnel Hill United Methodist Church and enjoyed as much southern gospel music as she could hear. Mrs. Jernigan spent her entire life taking care of others and never knew how much she was truly loved. Thankfully our mother has finally found the peace in death she couldn’t find in life.

A Celebration of the Life of Elizabeth “Kay” Jernigan will be conducted on Thursday, July 1, 2021 at 6 PM from the Chapel of Thomas Funeral Home with Reverend Jackie Dutton officiating.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, June 30, 2021 from 6 PM until 8 PM at Thomas Funeral Home.
