Mr. Elmo Eckert Emily, age 92 of Calhoun, Georgia, formerly of Woodstock, passed away on Friday, May 30th, 2025, at a local assisted living facility.
Mr. Emily was born in Henderson, Kentucky on November 28th, 1932, a son of the late Robert Lee Emily and the late Birdie Jenkins Emily. He was one of fourteen siblings. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Sally Sue Emily. Mr. Emily was a Veteran of the United States Navy, having served as an electrician on a submarine during the Korean Conflict. After being honorably discharged from his military duties, he went to work for the Tennessee Valley Authority and had a very successful career as a Public Health Administrator. He was an avid Braves baseball fan and enjoyed hiking, reading, and playing tennis.
His surviving children include two daughters, Lisa Archer and her husband, Ed and Linda Emily and her husband, Jesus; five grandchildren, Matthew Garcia Emily, Cecilia Garcia-Emily, Kathryn Emily Caldwell, Ryan Kasey Archer, and Zachary Cruze Archer; six great-grandchildren.
A Graveside inurnment will be held at a later date at The Georgia National Cemetery in Canton and will be announced as soon as arrangements are finalized.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that donations be made to the St. Jude Children Hospital in honor of Mr. Emily.
