Franklin William Rickett

Mr. Franklin William Rickett, age 74 of Calhoun, Georgia, passed away on Thursday, January 8th, 2025 at Advent Health Gordon.

Mr. Rickett was born in Chamblee, Ga., on March 1st, 1951, a son of the late Clyde Monroe Rickett and the late Bessie Mae Shaw Rickett. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two brothers, David Rickett and James Rickett; two sisters, Betty Johnson and Annette Jones. Mr. Rickett proudly served his country in the United States Army and was honorably discharged after several years of service. He spent most of his life working in the textile industry and retired from Prestige Carpet. He was a member of Meadowdale Baptist Church. Mr. Rickett had a true love for the simple joys in life—classic cars, a good game of golf, and a good cigar. His happiest moments were spent surrounded by his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, who were the light of his life. He also loved to cruise in his classic cars, often riding through the mountains, with his wife.

Survivors invlude his wife of 40 years, Mrs. Penny Rickett; two sons, Jamie Rickett (Susan Wise) and Keegan Beck (Ryan); two daughters, Crystal Rickett (Kenneth Abernathy) and Melissa Rickett; one brother, Ralph Rickett (Susan); seven grandchildren, Katelyn Sterner (Joey), Bleu Rickett, Montana Dyer (Kyle), Hunter Payne, Ava Mae Roland, Trajan Beck, and Miles Beck; two great-grandchildren, Zayleigh and Jaxson Dyer; sisters-in-law, Joan Rickett; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, January 11th, 2026 at 2 PM in the chapel of Thomas Funeral Home with Randy Johns sharing the eulogy. Interment will follow in Chandler Cemetery. Gentlemen serving as pallbearers include Bleu Rickett, Hunter Payne, Kyle Dyer, Kenneth Abernathy, Kevin Rickett, and Jeremy Barnes. Pallbearers are asked to assemble at 1:30 PM on Sunday.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, January 11th from 1 PM until 2 PM at the funeral home.
