Geraldine Marie “Gerri” Cox, age 71, of Calhoun, passed away Friday morning November 6th at AdventHealth Gordon.
Gerri was born August 16, 1949 in Gordon County, daughter of the late Otis H. Cox and Hazel Louise Parris Cox. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her grandparents, John W. and Ruby Sloan Parris and Fred and Pauline Gray Cox; a sister, Hazel Patricia "Patsy" Cox.
She graduated Calhoun High School in 1967. Gerri was of the Baptist faith and prior to her retirement was employed by the Georgia Department of Labor and Highland Rivers CSB (Coosa Valley/Three Rivers). After retirement, she was a delivery driver for Harbin Clinic in Rome and she worked 15 years for Anheuser-Busch in Cartersville. She was known around her neighborhood for taking in stray cats and lovingly caring for them and rehoming them if possible. She enjoyed working outdoors at her home. She loved her friends and family and she never met a stranger.
She is survived by a brother, Larry Cox and his wife Maggie; two sisters, Linda Duke and her husband Randy of Lindale and Brenda Cox and her significant other Johnny Mooney of Rome, nephew, Hank Cox and his wife LeAnne, and their children, John Henry, Lindsey Marie, and Morgan Elizabeth all of Adairsville, nephew, Daniel Cox of Kennesaw; aunt, Robbie Cox; cousin, Susan Parris.
As per her wishes, she will be cremated. A private service will be held at a later date.
