Thursday, February 08, 2007 Mr. Glenn Yancey, age 80 of Ranger, Ga. died Wednesday February 7th. at his residence following several months of declining health. Mr. Yancey was born in Gordon County on October 7, 1928 son of the late Arthur and Tramer Evans Yancey and had spent his entire life here. He had formerly severed as a Gordon County Commissioner. He was a member of the Fairmount 1st. Baptist Church, was retired from Lockheed Martin Aircraft , was a veteran of WWII serving with the U.S. Navy and was a member and Past Master of the MorningStar Masonic Lodge # 349 F & AM. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a twin brother; Carl Yancey. Survivors include his wife Gracelle Tanner Yancey of Ranger, one son and daughter-in-law; Steve and Sara Yancey of Ranger, two grandchildren; Stephanie and Steven Yancey, two Great-grandchildren; Ashley and Morgan Bennett. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m.Saturday February 10th. from the Chapel of the Thomas Funeral Home with Rev. Clay Stephens and Rev. David Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in the Chandler Cemetery. Pallbearers serving include his grandson Steven Yancey and Lodge members; Charlie Long, Richard Townsend, Harry Pierce, Dr. Gary Lemmons, Danny Taylor, James E. Dodd, and Steve McGlamery. These men are asked to meet at the Thomas Funeral Home at 1:45 P.M. Saturday. Honorary pallbearers will be Personnel of the Georgia State Patrol and they are asked to meet at the funeral home at 1:30 P. M. on Saturday. The Darnell family will have charge of the music. The family will receive friends at the Thomas Funeral Home from 5:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. on Friday February 9th.
