Tuesday, March 06, 2007 Mrs. Hazel Louise Parris Cox of Calhoun died at 3:30 PM, Monday, March 05, 2007 in Floyd Medical Center. Hazel was born, April 19, 1917 in Plainville, a daughter of the late John W. Parris and Ruby Alice Sloan Parris. Her husband Otis H. Cox to whom she was married in 1941; a daughter, Hazel Patricia “Patsy” Cox; a sister, Gladys Brown Cochran, and a brother, Dayton Parris, also preceded her in death. She was a lifetime resident of Gordon County and a member of the Oak Grove Baptist Church near Plainville. Hazel is survived by one son, Larry Cox and his wife Maggie of Calhoun; three daughters, Geraldine Cox of Calhoun, Linda Duke and her husband Randy Duke of Lindale, Brenda Cox and her special friend, Johnny Mooney of Rome; two grandsons, Hank Cox and his wife Leanne of Adairsville; Danny Cox of Kennesaw, one great grandson, John Henry Cox of Adairsville; and one niece, Susan Parris of Calhoun. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, March 7, 2007 at the Chapel of Thomas Funeral Home with Dr. Stephen Pearson officiating. Burial will be in Franklin Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M., Wednesday preceding the funeral service. Pallbearers are Richard B. Jones, Bruce Thomas, Johnny Mooney, Randy Duke, Clifton Burnham, Jerry Pass, and Jim Durow. They are asked to meet at the funeral home at 1:45 PM Wednesday.
