Rev. Howard Duvall, age 88, of the Sugar Valley community, passed away Sunday February 7th in the Redmond Regional Hospital.
Howard was born October 18, 1932, in Whitfield County, son of the late Rev. Earl Duvall and Mary Ruth Strickland Duvall. He was a active member of the Sugar Valley Baptist Church and a veteran of the United States Air Force. Howard was a well-known minister who pastored many churches in Whitfield and Gordon County. He also was the operator of the Singer Sewing Machine Business for more than 15 years.
Besides his parents Howard was preceded in death by the love of his life, Peggy Brown Duvall in July of last year, his son, Dwight Duvall, brother, Lamar Duvall and sisters, Martha Sue Akins, Bonnie Bailey, Arlene Parrish and Shirley Duvall.
He is survived by his son, Philip Duvall and his wife Jennifer of Calhoun; daughter, Lynne Floyd and her husband Felton of Sugar Valley. Eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren also survives.
Graveside service will be conducted Tuesday February 9th at Sugar Valley Baptist Cemetery with Rev. Mitch Phillips officiating. The Deacons of Sugar Valley Baptist Church will serve as pallbearers. Full military rites will be afforded by the Dalton American Legion.
Due to Covid-19 and the families concerns for Howard’s many friends the family will not be present during the visitation from 11AM until 1PM.
Also due to the Covid-19 Pandemic the family recommends that guests wear masks for the visitation and graveside services while practicing social distancing in line with the CDC guidelines.
