Imogene "Jean" Callaway Austin

Imogene “Jean” Callaway Austin, age 88, of Calhoun, passed away on Thursday, February 29, 2024.

Jean was born on November 12, 1935, in Bartow County, GA, daughter of the late Andrew W. Callaway and Lucille Bagley Callaway. She was a member of Sugar Valley Church of God. Jean loved music, singing, and playing guitar. She also loved the outdoors. Most of all she loved her family, especially her grandchildren.

Besides her parents she was preceded in death by Cliffton Callaway, James Callaway, Geneva Callaway, Hazel Callaway, and Dorothy Callaway.

Jean is survived by: two daughters, Dyanne Austin and Brenda S. Holsomback and her husband Bobby; one son, Ricky Austin; grandchildren, Sean and Amanda Samples, Sharee Ellis, and Seth Samples, Zane and Jaime Holsomback, Chase and Sarah Holsomback, Richard Austin, and Justin Austin; great-grandchildren, Scarlett Samples, Jacob Ellis, Jarett Ellis, Caleb Samples, Eva Holsomback, Joy Holsomback, Clara Holsomback, Hayden Holsomback, and Kinley Austin; great-great-grandchildren, Stetson Ellis, Valley Kate Ellis, and Benton Ellis; and two sisters, Wilma Serritt and Elaine Land. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Graveside services will be conducted Sunday March 3^rd at 3pm at Sugar Valley Baptist Cemetery. With Rev. Chase Holsomback officiating. Grandsons and great-grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends Sunday afternoon from 1:30 – 2:30pm at the funeral home.
