Dr. Jack O. Cole, age 88 of Calhoun, GA, passed away on Monday, May 16, 2022 at Gordon Health & Rehabilitation.
Jack was born on August 12, 1933 in Floyd County, GA, son of the late Henry Grady Cole and Hazel Mae Key Cole. In addition to his parents, Jack was also preceded in death by: a brother, Billy L. Cole; and grandson, Greg Cole. Jack was a pastor for churches in Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, and Texas for over 65 years. He was founder of Rome Baptist Temple and Hamill Road Christian School. Jack loved to sing beginning as a child with his mother and father. He also enjoyed golfing and working in his garden.
Jack is survived by: his wife, Audrey Cheatham Cole; one son, Michael M. Cole and his wife Karon; two daughters, Reatha Ann Schwanbeck and her husband Dan, and Yvonne Robertson; six grandchildren, Jeremy Schwanbeck, Nathan Schwanbeck, Dena Cole, Jessica Robertson, Caitlin Harden and her husband Blaiz, and Braden Robertson; and seven great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of the Life of Jack will be held on Thursday, May 19, 2022 at 3 PM at Rome Baptist Temple with Evangelist Tom Hayes and Reverend Chris Hanks officiating. Interment will follow in Chandler Cemetery.
Pallbearers serving include: Jeremy Schwanbeck, Braden Robertson, Aiden Schwanbeck, Bob Himes, Charlie Latta, and Bud Ritchey.
Honorary Pallbearers will be fellow minister friends of Jack.
Jack will lie in state on Thursday, May 19, 2022 from 1 PM until the service hour at 3 PM at Rome Baptist Temple.
