James (Jim) Robert Wiggins of Calhoun, Georgia, passed away at his residence on Sunday, June 8, 2025, at the age of 84.
Jim was born on January 16, 1941, in Youngsville, North Carolina, to the late Stephen Wiggins and Linda Mae Roberts Wiggins. He attended Duke University on Navy scholarship and was a veteran of the United States Navy. He graduated from North Carolina State University with a degree in textile engineering. Jim spent his career in various textile production management positions in several towns in North Carolina, Virginia, and Georgia. He retired as the Vice President of Operations of Pharr Yarns in McAdenville, North Carolina.
Jim was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing different courses around the United States. Perhaps his favorite was Mount Mitchell Golf Club, in Burnsville, North Carolina, where he and Charlotte enjoyed the beautiful mountain scenery and the friendships they developed while living there.
Jim and Charlotte appreciated spending time at the beach as well, especially Sunset Beach, North Carolina. Their home there was the site of many wonderful family vacations with extended family. They later moved to Daytona Beach Shores, where they added attending Daytona Beach Drive-In Christian Church as a much enjoyed activity.
Jim is survived by his wife of 62 years, Charlotte Taylor Wiggins and two daughters, Angie (Charles) Prater and Marla (Eddie) Poole. Additionally, he is survived by eight grandchildren, Rebecca (Riley) Demaree, Matthew (Chloe) Poole, Daniel Poole, Rachel Poole, Adam Poole, Charlotte (Will) Byrd, David (Abigail) Prater, and James Prater, and four great-grandchildren, Waverly Poole, Caspian Poole, Tallulah Byrd, and Teddy Prater. He is also survived by his three brothers, Forrest (Kay) Wiggins, Larry (Lois) Wiggins, and Tim (Barbara) Wiggins.
