James West

Mr. James D. “Jim” West, age 84 of the Plainview Community died at 3:10 AM, Saturday in Gordon Hospital. Jim was born in Gordon County, November 18, 1922, son of the late Clark Howell West and Nellie Kate Jones West. He was a retired employee of Georgia Textile and attended the Sonoraville Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by two brothers, William and Max West and a sister, Sarah West Underwood. He is survived by two brothers, Howell West and his wife Dot of Adairsville and Ralph West and his wife Reith of Greenville, GA; one sister, Dixie West Godfrey of Calhoun. Along with several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted Monday July 16th, at 2PM from the chapel of Thomas Funeral Home. With Dr. John Allen and Rev. Steve Skates officiating. Music will be arranged by Ronnie Hammontree and Marsha West. Nephews will serve as pallbearers and the Willing Workers Sunday School Class of Sonoraville Baptist Church will serve as Honorary Escorts. Burial will follow in Chandler Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 3 until 9 PM.
