Janet Sue (Schmidt) Naus, 56, passed away on June 19, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. Janet was born November 28, 1967, to Gene and Glendora Schmidt. She married James Randall (Randy) Naus on July 18, 1993. 

Janet graduated from Enterprise Academy, Enterprise, KS. She attended college at Union College in Nebraska. Her career started in 1988 as Dean of Women at Enterprise Academy. In 1990 she was called to Campion Academy in Loveland, Colo. to be the Dean of Women, followed by a position as Head Dean of Women at Georgia Cumberland Academy, Calhoun, Ga. where she remained in that position for 30 years. During her career and in everyday life she touched so many lives by sharing her faith and guidelines for living a good life – both spiritually and physically. 

Janet was dedicated to her faith, family, friends, and students, helping and educating others on the benefits of healthy living. Her smile lit up the room; she found joy in simple things – nature, gardening, walks, and sunrises/sunsets. There was a fun-loving humorous side that she displayed frequently. People were drawn to her caring personality. 

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a daughter, Haley L. Naus. 

Surviving is her husband, Randy, a daughter, Madison Rene Naus (fiancée Brendan Nieto) and a son, Taylor James Naus; a sister, Becky Cram (Jim) Salina, Ks., brothers, Rodney (Patty) Schmidt, Larned, Ks., John Schmidt, Larned, Ks., Karl (Emily) Schmidt, Overland Park, Ks., an uncle, Jerry (Toni) Schmidt, Harvard, Neb., an aunt, Vera Schmidt, Larned, Ks. and many extended family members. 

A Celebration of Janet’s Life is being planned for August 25, 2024, at Georgia Cumberland Academy, Calhoun, GA. 

Memorials can be made to the Georgia Cumberland Worthy Student Fund or a charity of the donor’s choice.
