Jerry Glenn Phillips

Jerry Glenn Phillips, age 68, of Calhoun, passed away Friday night, March 15th at Northside Hospital following a brief battle with Lymphoma.

 

Jerry was born in Floyd County on September 8, 1955, to the late Joseph Max Phillips and Mary Fowler Phillips. He graduated from Calhoun High School Class of 1973 and was a member of the Oothcaloga Baptist Church in Adairsville.

 

Jerry owned and operated Southern Motor Works until his retirement. He had a great sense of humor and always made friends wherever he went. He loved spending time with his family. Jerry wants us to Praise God and Thank Him for our blessings. 

 

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Bryan Phillips, and a grandson, Gunner Avery. 

 

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, JoAnn Childers Phillips, daughter, Calista Avery, granddaughter, Zoey Avery, and a grandson, Austin McDaniel. One brother, Wayne Phillips, and his wife Marie, sister, Peggy Brown, and her husband Kenneth, as well as numerous other family members also survive.  

 

At Jerry’s request, his body was cremated and a private memorial service will be held at a later date.
