Jimmy L. “Jim” McDonald, Age 80 of Calhoun died at his residence Saturday, February 25.

 

Jim was born in Gordon County, January 8, 1943, son of the late Frank Arthur McDonald and the former Miss Ruby Jo Ray. Also, he was preceded in death by his father -in- law, Ross Carpenter and his mother-in-law, Etta Lee Carpenter, a brother-in-law Jimmy Carpenter and his wife Beverly.

 

Jim attended the local schools and was a self-employed as a licensed electrical and plumbing contractor. He had attended the New Zion Baptist Church.

 

Jim is survived by his wife of 59 years, Karen Carpenter McDonald; one daughter, Tonya McDonald both of Calhoun; sister-in-law, Marsha Leonard of Hiawassee, a special nephew Blain Carpenter of Lindale, and a special cousin Marie Taylor of Calhoun. Additional surviving relatives include nieces, nephews, and cousins as well as numerous friends and family.

 

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, February 28 at the Chapel of Thomas Funeral Home with the Reverend Corey Forsyth officiating. The family will receive friends on Monday, February 27 from 5:00 until 7:00 PM.

 

Active pallbearers are Scott Clements, Dennie Roberts, Joe Taylor, Johnny Goble, Randy and Ronald Balliew, Kenneth, and Jerry Hudson. Honorary pallbearers are, Charles Williams, Philip Beamer, Phil and Jeff Beamer, Clifton Smith, and Clyde Hayes. They are requested to meet at the funeral home at `1:45 PM Tuesday.

 

Thomas Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements for the services of Jim McDonald.
