Joann Coulter Bledsoe

         Joann Coulter Bledsoe, age 88, of Franklin, TN passed away Sunday, February 4, 2024 at her home.

         A native of Washington County, KY, she was born on February 16, 1935 

in the Pleasant Grove community, was a 1952 graduate of Willisburg High School (KY) and a graduate of Spencerian College in Louisville, KY.  

Joann met husband John during his ministerial studies at Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, KY. During their years in church ministry, the Bledsoes served Greenup Fork Baptist Church, Owenton KY; Long Ridge Baptist Church, Owenton, KY; First Baptist Church, Clay KY; First Baptist Church, Calhoun, GA; Trinity Baptist Church, Moultrie, GA; First Baptist Church, Toccoa, GA; and Morningside Baptist Church, Atlanta, GA. 

An administrative assistant, Joann spent eleven years at the North American Mission Board, the domestic missions agency of the Southern Baptist Convention. The last years of her career were spent working for Calhoun Counseling Center. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Calhoun, GA.

         Preceding her in death are her father, Charles “B” Coulter; her mother, Ella Warner Coulter; a sister, Christine Coulter Hale and two brothers, William E. “Rackie” Coulter and Charles A. “Chig” Coulter.

         Survivors include her husband of sixty-six years, Dr. John L Bledsoe; three daughters, Sherri Halford (Hollis), Christie Hurlock (Dave) and Jonna Hart; three grandchildren, Hilary Reese Hohl (Stuart), Harrison Hart (Hannah) and Sarah Catherine Hurlock Osgood (Gus) and two great grandchildren, John Stuart Hohl and Warner Hamilton Hohl. 

         Funeral and burial services were held February 10th in Willisburg, KY. 

A Celebration of Life is planned for Saturday, March 23rd at First Baptist Church, Calhoun, GA. Visitation begins at 1:00 pm with the service following at 2:00 pm. 

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Baptist Church Caregivers Group or the FBC Faithseekers SS Class benevolence fund at 411 College Street, Calhoun, GA 30701.
