John Aubrey Gazaway

John Aubrey Gazaway, age 86 of Plainville, GA, passed away on Thursday, August 21, 2025, at his residence.

John was born on March 12, 1939, in Gordon County, GA, the son of the late Aubrey Miller Gazaway and Johnnie Mae Poarch Gazaway. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Elleen DeVolld Gazaway, and his first wife, Susan Fuller Gazaway. John was a proud veteran of the United States Army. He had a lifelong love for the outdoors and pursued that passion by owning and operating his own plant nursery.

John is survived by: two sons, Mark Gazaway and Jeff Gazaway, and his wife Scarlette; two grandchildren, Auburi Martin and her husband Kyle, and Kati Rhinehart and her husband Mark; and one sister, Judy Gazaway.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 4 - 6 pm before the service.

Services to celebrate John’s life will be conducted on Wednesday, August 27th, at 6 pm from the chapel of Thomas Funeral Home, with Rev. John Shivers officiating.
