John Henry Shellhorse, age 81 of Fairmount, GA, passed away on Wednesday, April 1, 2026 at Gordon Health & Rehabilitation.

John was born on November 4, 1944, son of the late John Henry Shellhorse and Mammie Ruth Kelly Shellhorse. John worked as a contractor for most of his life, then prior to his retirement went to work for StarPaper Tube. John loved horses, going to rodeos, and spending time with his family and friends.

John is survived by: two sons, Shane Shellhorse and Benjamin Cronon and his wife Brook; sister, Brenda Cina; six grandchildren, Meredith Thigpen and her husband Shane, Buddy Counts and his wife Pazlie, Lane Shellhorse, Gracen Milner and her husband Logan, Joe Cooper Cronon, and Dylan Cronon; and seven great-grandchildren, Jade Milner, Kyson Cronon, Sutton Cronon, Tripp Thigpen, Journey Thigpen, River Thigpen, and Harbor Thigpen.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, April 4, 2026 from 5 PM until 8 PM at Thomas Funeral Home.

Funeral Services will be conducted on Sunday, April 5, 2026 at 2 PM with Reverend Frank Wood officiating. Burial will follow in Salacoa Baptist Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers serving will include: Lane Shellhorse, Ben Cronon, Buddy Counts, Shane Shellhorse, Logan Milner, Matthew Hughey, and Junior Holsomback.
