Joseph Doyal Edwards

Wednesday, December 16, 2009 Doyal Edwards, age 74, of Oxford, Georgia and formerly of Gordon County. Died Monday December 14th in Athens Regional Medical Center. Doyal was born in Gordon County September 21, 1935. Son of the late Joseph Lemual and Jessie Lucille Ray Edwards. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corp. and employed as a shipping and operations clerk for Porter Paint Company prior to his retirement. Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Margaret Andrews Edwards of Oxford, Georgia. One son; Doyal William Edwards of California. A stepdaughter; Dorothy Lewis of Lawrenceville. Two grandsons; Steven and J.R. Edwards. One great grandson; Shayne Edwards along with several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday December 19th at 2pm from the chapel of Thomas Funeral Home. With Rev. Parham Hammontree officiating. Burial will follow in the Harmony Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers serving include; Roy and Andy Morris. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6 until 8pm.
