Joseph Parnell “Joe” Highfield, age 57, of Resaca, GA, passed away on Wednesday, January 27, 2021 at Floyd Medical Center. Joe was born August 2, 1963 in Floyd County, son of Barbara Grace Couch Highfield and the late Benjamin Donald Highfield, Sr.. In addition to his father, Joe was also preceded in death by his brother, Rufus Eugene “Butch” Highfield. Joe was employed with Atlas LLD Inc. as senior inspector, and had retired from the Georgia Department of Transportation as a traffic signal engineer. Joe served his country as a Tank Platoon Sargent with the Army National Guard. Joe loved to ride his Harley motorcycle. Joe is survived by: his mother, Barbara Couch Highfield; his birth parents, Betty Geraldine Williams and Hoyt D. Lawler; his wife, Lynn Bray Highfield of Resaca; son, Bryan Seth Highfield; daughter, Brittany Evan Linderfelt and her husband Cody; four brothers, Sidney Highfield and his wife Catherine, Donnie Highfield and his wife Cindy, Danny Siniard and his wife Chyrl, and Jamie Lawler; three sisters, Nancy Skidmore and her husband Dennis, Denise Lawler, and Terri Lawler; grandchildren, Aaliyah Highfield, Amilee Highfield, Grayson Lingerfelt, Elliana Lingerfelt, and Liam Lingerfelt. The family will receive friends on Friday, January 29 2020 from 6 PM until 8 PM at Crane Eater Community Church. Funeral Services will be conducted on Saturday, January 30, 2021 at 3 PM at Crane Eater Community Church with Reverend Stacy Hensley officiating. Interment will follow in Chandler Cemetery. Pallbearers serving include: Sidney Highfield, Greg Bray, Neal McNeese, Zack Walraven, Ryan Bray, Scotty Bray, and Cody Lingerfelt. Due to the ongoing national health crisis, face coverings must be properly worn by all those who plan to attend. Social distancing guidelines must be followed at all times while attending the service.
