Joyce Elizabeth Burnley Thomas

Joyce Elizabeth Burnley Thomas, age 79 of Plainville, GA, passed away on Monday, June 15, 2020 at her residence. Joyce was born on September 17, 1940 in Conyers, GA to the late Clarence Burnley and Della Mae Brown Sikes. In addition to her parents, Joyce was also preceded in death by a son, Steve Lamar Thomas. Joyce was a member of Adairsville Church of Christ and was a 63 year resident of the Scottsville Community. She loved to shop, and worked at Mickey’s Fashion for many years. Prior to her retirement, Joyce worked in the cafeteria at Gordon Central High School and Plainville School. Joyce loved her family including her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Joyce is survived by: her husband, William “Billy” Thomas of Plainville, GA; two sons, Keith Wayne Thomas and Brian Terrell Thomas; daughter, Shawn Thomas Sutton; brother, Roger Burnley and his wife Sarah; brother-in-law, Dennis Thomas and his wife Debbie; four sisters-in-law, Linda Evans, Mary Taylor, Martha Hall, and Fran Franklin; seven grandchildren, Mallary Norton, Tyler Sutton, Jana Lindsey, Brenton Thomas, Dustin Thomas, Taylor Stephens, and Abigail McCary; and six great-grandchildren, Ashton Norton, Bentley Norton, Kayson Stephens, Brady Sutton, Phanuel Lindsey, and Baylee Stephens. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral Services will be conducted on Thursday, June 18th at 11 AM from the Chapel of Thomas Funeral Home with Pastor Rick Lawson, Reverend Marvin Jackson, and Roger Burnley officiating. Pallbearers serving include: Dempsey Wright, Wade Gravitt, Lennie Holbert, Luke Holbert, Tommy Payne, Cary Burnley, Michael Norton, Johnny Jacks, Allen Byars, and Cody Franklin. Honorary Pallbearers are: Ashton Norton, Bentley Norton, Kayson Stephens, Brady Sutton, Phanuel Lindsey, Briggs McCary, Ryder Gravitt, Lane Byars, and Bodi Gravitt.
